LOVE IS IN THE AIR
A series of Staged Play Readings about LOVE

Love Flier

As part of its ongoing collaboration with the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing, the regions newest Center for the Arts, Theater To Go will return on Fridays in February and March for LOVE IS IN THE AIR, a series of 4 staged readings of plays about Love.. Each Friday will bring a different Play, 2 from established playwrights and two by emerging playwrights. The new plays were selected to complement the known plays and it is hoped that audiences will come to all four readings to discuss the similarities and differences in the themes and styles of each play. These staged readings will be directed by Steve Gaissert for Theater To Go and will feature talk backs and refreshments after each performance. All shows begin 8:00 pm. Individual tickets are $12 per show; $40 for the four show series. Purchase tickets at Brown Paper Tickets (http://bpt.me/2728132) or by phone at 1-800-838-3006. The schedule is as follows:

Theater To Go was started in 1992 and has been providing quality entertainment in NJ and regionally since then. It is best known for audience participation murder mysteries and other interactive comedy theater however has expanded to include full length plays and staged readings.

Our Interactive shows have been performed regionally and around the United States for many corporate events and our shows have been excellent activities for corporate team building and holiday parties. In addition Theater To Go has performed at many fundraisers, private parties and public events. The interactive nature of these shows allows the audiences to play along with the actors. We believe that whereas most adults stop playing in adolescence, actors play all their lives, and we invite you to join us in the playground!

Theater To Go has added audience participation Movie Sing Alongs/Play Alongs where the audience is invited to join in as we all view the movie and engage in guided activities. The audience is invited to come in costume, everyone receives a “goody bag” containing participation props, and Guided by our MC the audience gets right into the action of these classic movies. Recent events included Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Annie, Mamma Mia and the wildly popular Frozen.

RUTH MARKOE (Director/Producer) is an active director/actor in the region. Most recently, Ruth directed Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and The 39 Steps for Theater To Go at Kelsey Theater and has directed at the Bucks County Playhouse. She produced and directed the 2010 and 2014 production of the Roebling: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge at The NJ State Museum and in 2016 at the Kelsey Theater. Ruth is also the owner/ artistic director of Theater to Go which has been providing theatrical entertainment since 1992 and has been invited to perform throughout the US. In 2011 Ruth attended the CTI Producer’s workshop at the O’Neill Theatre Center in Waterford, CT and is an active member of Theater Resources Unlimited in NYC. Some of her favorite acting roles include Martha in Who’s Afraid of Viginia Woolf, Golde in Fiddler on the Roof and Dr. Prentice in Beyond Therapy.

Theater To Go is pleased to be partnering with Mercer County’s newest performing arts space, The 1867 Sanctuary, the Region's Historic Haven for Arts and Culture (www.1867sanctuary.org) This season, we will bring theater to this venue in a variety of forms.
  • In October we brought our multi media presentation Emily Roebling: The Woman Who Saved the Brooklyn Bridge which focused on her remarkable contribution to the completion of the project despite almost insurmountable odds.
  • On Wednesday evening, December 28, as part of Trenton's Patriots Week, we are presenting a staged reading of Michael A. Davis’ play The Trial of Abraham Hunt, An American Christmas Story.
  • In February and March 2017, we are presenting LOVE IS IN THE AIR, a series of staged readings of plays about Love. These will be plays you know and love, as well as some original works. Each night will bring a different staged reading. Come to one or all. And bring your sweetheart!
We are very excited about this collaboration.
