Preservation New Jersey is pleased to present THIS OLD HOUSE, an Acoustic Americana trio featuring Paul Daloia, stand up bass; Ray Scro, saxophones; and Greg Stier, guitar and vocals.
THIS OLD HOUSE is not so much a band as much as it is a vehicle for a concept of a time and a place. And what a place it surely is! The seductive combination of an acoustic guitar and saxophone, coupled with a worldly vocal, stand-up bass makes for a gentle, comfortable evening, a sure bet to make even the most jaded listener smile with delight and recognition.
The repertoire of THIS OLD HOUSE is an eclectic mix, consisting of songs that are indelibly (and some not so indelibly) imprinted on the American cultural landscape. There are selections from Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rodgers, Kid Ory, Patsy Cline, Louis Prima, Clarence and Spencer Williams, Miles Davis, J.B. Hutto, John Sebastian, Big Joe Turner, Reverend Gary Davis and Blind Willie McTell just to name a few. Included in this legendary repertoire are also some of Greg Stier’s own originals, which suit the band just fine, thank you very much. The relaxed, breezy atmosphere exuded by THIS OLD HOUSE’s evocative, masterful and commanding delivery of these “roots music” classics are sure to be a winner with all audiences.
