Preservation New Jersey is pleased to present Jerry Rife and Blue Skies Jazz, a 4 piece acoustic band led by Jerry Rife featuring trumpet, clarinet/sax, banjo/guitar, bass/tuba/trombone performing American Song Book and standard jazz.
Blue Skies is a jazz quartet that specializes in performing blues, swing jazz, and standard traditional jazz and music from the first half of the 20th century. They have entertained crowds for thirty years with repeat performances for Tri-State Jazz Society, Pennsylvania Jazz Society, Princeton University, The College of New Jersey, Rider University and many central New Jersey institutions. They have played at family reunions, class reunions, town holiday special events, community concerts, and for 15 years held educational workshops at High Schools in the tri-state area where they performed for and worked with student jazz bands under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Jazz Society. They played at The Marroe Inn in Lawrenceville weekly for nine years.
Jerry Rife, clarinet and soprano saxophone, grew up playing jazz in New Jersey and across the midwest. He is the chair of the Fine Arts department at Rider University.
Danny Tobias has become a sought-after cornet player in east-coast jazz circles. He performs with The Rhythm Kings, the Midiri Brothers groups, and his own quartet.
Pat Mercuri plays in many jazz bands and is a guest guitar and banjo player with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Metropolitan and New York Philharmonic and many other classical groups.
Peter Reichlin is a versatile horn player specializing on trombone, but equally at home on the tuba and bass. He is a member of the Independence Hall Jazz Band and performs with the Trenton Symphony and other classic and jazz groups.
