at the 1867 Sanctuary at Ewing
Preservation New Jersey is pleased to welcome jazz pianist Joe Holt and trumpeter Danny Tobias back to the wonderful acoustic space of the 1867 Sanctuary for a concert of classic jazz stylings and improvisational surprises.
Joe Holt is a full time improvisational/jazz pianist, beginning as a teenager in the 1970's. Also a Board Certified Music Therapist, Joe performs for the connections that music makes, and a shared experience with his audiences. Known for his creative improvisations and a joy of performing, Joe's formal studies span both jazz and classical, and the influence of both worlds can be heard. Past experiences include concert and jazz festival touring throughout the US, extensive Atlantic City casino performing, over a decade as Cherry Hill (NJ) Mall's food court pianist, concert and music therapy related performances in dozens of regional senior communities, and various music director/staff positions. Currently, Joe is the host of the "Mainstay Mondays" series at The Mainstay in Rock Hall, MD, performing collaborative concerts with new (local, regional and national) guest artists each week. He is a walk on entertainer for American Cruise Lines at ports along the Chesapeake Bay. Joe is a regular sideman and accompanist with regional groups and artists, in addition to his solo concerts and performances. Joe appears on over 30 album recordings. He lives on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
The ever tasteful pianist Joe Holt is a soloist extraordinaire; an intense musician with terrific chops, who shows you he means business. - Cam Miller, The American Rag

Equally at home with a cornet or trumpet, Trentonian Danny Tobias brings beautiful shape and individuality to his performances. Playing professionally since the age of 15, though his skills and repertoire embrace a variety of styles, Danny’s best known for traditional jazz and swing, artfully reproducing classic arrangements or uniquely improvising. In addition to playing with the Midiri Brothers at events and festivals across the USA, Danny has led bands and performed for the PA Jazz Society, NJ Jazz Society and the Tri-State Jazz Society, and has also worked with a number of prolific artists such as Warren Vaché, Scott Robinson, Vince Giordano, Wycliffe Gordon, Harry Allen, Jon-Erik Kellso, Brooks Tegler and Howard Alden. Danny has performed at Birdland, the Lincoln Center Atrium, the Players Club, and other jazz-loving venues in New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore and surrounds.
